3 Grab-and-Go Breakfast Smoothies for Energy, Protein & Recovery

Why you’ll hear me bang on about breakfast & why it’s so important… Breakfast is often one of the most skipped meals of the day, but - it's also one of the most important! If you're anything like me, mornings can be hectic - but what you eat at the start of your day can make such a big difference to not only your energy levels but also how you perform in everything you do: whether that’s in the gym or just making it through the day without feeling hangry! 😅

A good breakfast helps to set the tone for your day, giving you the energy to power through workouts and stay alert for everything else you’ve got on your plate. Plus, a proper breakfast keeps your blood sugar stable, meaning you’re much less likely to crash mid-morning and reach for that packet of biscuits. 🍪 So, if you’ve been skipping breakfast or grabbing a sugary snack - it might be time to rethink your morning fuel.

The secret to a good breakfast?

Getting the right balance of protein, fibre and healthy fats, that will help you feel full and energised throughout the morning and if you’re hitting the gym or a workout, this balance becomes even more important. You need a breakfast that’ll nourish your muscles, supports recovery and that will keep you feeling ready to tackle your day.

Today, I’m sharing three breakfast smoothies that are quick and easy, and packed with protein and fibre. Whether you’re on the go, looking for a post-workout boost or simply just trying to make sure you’re properly fuelled and energised – these smoothies have got you covered.

1. Green Power Protein Smoothie

For when you need that morning kick, packed with plant goodness

Ingredients:

  • 1 scoop protein powder (choose your favourite – I love vanilla in this one)
  • 1 handful spinach (for extra greens and fibre)
  • 1/2 frozen banana (natural sweetness)
  • 1/2 avocado (healthy fats for satiety)
  • 1 tbsp chia seeds (fibre and omega-3s)
  • 1 tbsp almond butter (healthy fats)
  • 120ml almond milk (or dairy milk if you prefer)
  • Ice cubes (optional)

  1. Greek Yogurt & Berry Bliss Smoothie

For when you want something creamy and tangy but still filling.

Ingredients:

  • 240g plain Greek yogurt (protein-packed!)
  • 100g mixed frozen berries (antioxidants and fibre)
  • 1/2 banana (for natural sweetness)
  • 1 tbsp flaxseeds (fibre and omega-3s)
  • 1 tbsp peanut butter (healthy fats)
  • 120ml water or almond milk (adjust to preferred consistency)
  • Ice cubes (optional)

3. Peanut Butter & Banana Power Smoothie

For when you’re craving something rich and satisfying (hello, peanut butter!).

Ingredients:

  • 1 scoop protein powder
  • 1 tbsp natural peanut butter (protein & healthy fats)
  • 1/2 banana (for carbs & natural sweetness)
  • 1 tbsp ground flaxseeds (fibre)
  • 120ml oat milk (or your preferred milk)
  • 30g rolled oats (slow digesting carbs & fibre)
  • Ice cubes (optional)

Instructions (applies to all):

Blend all ingredients until smooth and creamy. Pour into a glass or travel mug and enjoy! Each smoothie packs between 20-30g of protein and a good dose of fibre to keep you energised all the way till lunch.

Quick Tips for Customising:

You can always mix and match based on what you like and need. If you’re dairy-free, simply swap out the Greek yogurt for coconut yogurt, or use almond milk instead of dairy milk. If you’re vegan, opt for plant-based protein powders. The best thing about smoothies is that you can make them work for your unique needs – so feel free to adjust them to fit your preferences and dietary choices.
